In her posthumously aired Netflix interview, Jane Goodall revealed that Elon Musk would serve as "the host" for a hypothetical spaceship carrying individuals she'd prefer to send off-planet.
The renowned primatologist's concept stands in stark contrast to naming dream dinner party attendees.
Jane Goodall, who passed away at age 91 last week, expressed in her Netflix interview "Famous Last Words" that she would gladly dispatch Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Benjamin Netanyahu into space aboard a SpaceX rocket.
The interview segments have subsequently gone viral, amassing tens of millions of views, garnering both admiration and criticism for the celebrated scientist, while also prompting discussions about whether the footage was authentic or AI-generated.
According to Netflix, Goodall recorded the interview in March with the understanding that it would be released only after her death.
When host Brad Falchuk inquired if there were people she disliked, Goodall, who began the conversation sipping whiskey—her customary pre-talk ritual for maintaining vocal clarity—responded affirmatively.
"Absolutely, there are people I don't like, and I would like to put them on one of Musk's spaceships and send them all off to the planet he's sure he's going to discover," she stated.
Musk, currently the wealthiest individual globally, has dedicated his life to establishing a colony on Mars and transforming humanity into a "multiplanetary species."
Goodall added that Musk would "be the host, and you can imagine who I'd put on that spaceship."
"Along with Musk would be Trump, and some of Trump's real supporters, and then I would put Putin in there, and I would put President Xi—I'd certainly put Netanyahu in there, and his far-right government. Put them all on that spaceship and send them off."
The discussion subsequently shifted to aggression in chimpanzees and whether the men she named exhibited "alpha" characteristics.
Goodall explained that among chimpanzees, two types of alphas exist: those relying on physical dominance who quickly burn out, and those who establish alliances and endure longer.
Her research, she noted, convinced her that aggression is innate to both chimpanzees and humans, who share nearly 99 percent of their DNA.
"But I truly believe that most people are decent," she affirmed.
Goodall concluded the interview with a message of hope—and a caution to those who would harm "Mother Nature."
"If you want to save what is still beautiful in this world, if you want to save the planet for the future generations, your grandchildren, their grandchildren, then think about the actions you take each day," she advised.
She expressed her belief in an afterlife, stating that "consciousness survives."
"I can't tell you what you will find when you leave planet Earth, but I want you to know that your life on planet Earth will make some difference in the kind of life that you find after you die."
