Dr Merritt Moore is a scientist who divides her time between quantum physics laboratories and ballet performances.

New Delhi:
The upcoming two-day NDTV World Summit scheduled for October 17-18 will gather exceptional minds from politics, science, technology, and business sectors.
On the first day, Dr Merritt Moore will present her insights on how artificial intelligence and human intelligence can collaboratively shape the future, highlighting why emotional creativity might become humanity's significant advantage.
Dr Moore represents a unique fusion of scientific expertise and artistic talent, dividing her professional life between quantum physics research and ballet performances.
Known for her innovative contributions to quantum computing and robotics, Dr Moore has also performed with several prestigious ballet companies worldwide, demonstrating that science and art can flourish together.
As a physicist, Dr Moore completed her education at Harvard University with a major in physics, graduating magna cum laude in 2011. She subsequently earned her PhD in Atomic and Laser Physics at the University of Oxford between 2012 and 2017.
Her research focuses on robotics and quantum physics. In 2013, she published her first research paper exploring the use of qubits and CPHASE gates to create more efficient quantum computing systems. Her second publication in 2016 examined the development of hybrid systems combining quantum and classical computing on separate servers.
From 2022 to 2024, she served as Distinguished Artist in Residence and Adjunct Professor of Practice at New York University Abu Dhabi.
Dr Moore began her professional ballet career in 2008 during her sophomore year at Harvard. Her dance journey includes performing with the Zurich Ballet, Boston Ballet, English National Ballet, and Norwegian National Ballet.
She has performed alongside her robots at various prestigious venues including the Boston Ballet, Forbes Women's Summit, and events across Switzerland, Germany, Los Angeles, Bucharest, and Harvard AI Opening.
Her remarkable career has been featured in major publications including TIME, Financial Times, Vogue, and BBC. In 2018, she was recognized in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
Additionally, Dr Moore participated as one of twelve selected candidates for astronaut selection in the BBC Two reality series "Astronauts: Do you have what it takes?"
The NDTV World Summit 2025 aims to create a space where current realities meet future possibilities, challenging existing paradigms and designing new world perspectives.
The summit will explore three key themes: Risk as a frontier rather than a fear; Resolve as an intention rather than a reaction; and Renewal as regeneration of possibilities rather than restoration of the past.
As global society navigates between contradiction and creativity, between exhaustion and emergence, this Summit offers multiple pathways toward truth, hope, and transformation across international boundaries.
Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi will host the NDTV World Summit on October 17-18.
