The White House has declared it "unacceptable for a child killer to walk free" following a controversial parole decision in Kentucky.
A father in Kentucky has publicly vowed to take revenge after the man who murdered his 6-year-old son during a home invasion was granted early release on parole. The case has now drawn attention from the White House, which has initiated a review of the decision.
Ronald Exantus, 42, brutally attacked the Tipton family in their home on December 7, 2015. During the invasion, he targeted young Logan Tipton, repeatedly slashing the child's head with a kitchen knife. When Logan's father, Dean Tipton, attempted to intervene, he was stabbed and violently thrown several feet across the room, as he later recounted to WLKY.
Logan's sister Dakota provided a harrowing account of the attack: "He stabbed me in the back. And then stomped on my head. And I remember waking up across the room, not where I was at, and I looked and he was killing Logan and Logan was screaming."
Exantus, formerly employed as a dialysis nurse, received a 20-year prison sentence in 2018. The jury had found him not guilty of murder by reason of insanity but convicted him of assault charges with a determination of being mentally ill, according to The NY Post.
Despite the severity of his crimes, Exantus was released on parole on October 1 after serving just eight years of his sentence. His early release was granted based on good behavior and educational credits. According to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, his parole is scheduled to end on June 18, 2026.
Dean Tipton expressed profound outrage regarding Exantus's release. "He told [Dakota] that he was going to kill every one of us. So now I've gotta be on extra guard to protect my kids because I will not lose another one," he stated in an interview with Fox News.
In a separate interview with WKYT, the grieving father made his intentions clear: "I've had my talks with God cause I'm not afraid to tell you all, I told the court, if I ever cross paths with him, I will kill the man. I will kill him where he stands."
The White House has confirmed it is investigating the case. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted on social media platform X: "I can confirm the White House is looking into this. It's wholly unacceptable for a child killer to walk free after just several years in prison."
Heather Tipton, Logan's mother, shared her frustration with Fox News: "It's infuriating that a six-year-old was killed sleeping in his bed and someone literally only did ten years in prison and he didn't even do the time for that, he did time for assault charges."
