Trump Announces Gaza Ceasefire Progress: Israel Agrees to Withdrawal Line as Hamas Considers 20-Point Peace Plan

US President Donald Trump reveals Israel has agreed to an initial withdrawal line in Gaza as part of a comprehensive 20-point peace plan that includes hostage releases, prisoner exchanges, and international oversight of Gaza's reconstruction. Netanyahu expresses hope for hostage releases within days as negotiations continue in Egypt.

Israel Agreed To Withdrawal Line, Hamas Must Move Quickly: Trump

US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that Israel has temporarily halted bombing in Gaza to provide an opportunity for hostage release and implementation of the 20-point peace deal.

"Hamas must move quickly, or else all bets will be off," Trump warned in his Truth Social post. "I will not tolerate delay... Let's get this done, FAST."

In a separate statement on Saturday, the president revealed that after negotiations, Israel has agreed to an initial withdrawal line that has been presented to Hamas.

"After negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line, which we have shown to, and shared with, Hamas. When Hamas confirms, the Ceasefire will be IMMEDIATELY effective, the Hostages and Prisoner Exchange will begin, and we will create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal, which will bring us close to the end of this 3,000-YEAR CATASTROPHE. Thank you for your attention to this matter and, STAY TUNED," Trump stated.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed hope of announcing the release of all Gaza hostages "in the coming days" as indirect talks with Hamas continued in Egypt on Monday regarding a new US peace plan.

Netanyahu issued a brief statement late Saturday confirming he had dispatched a delegation to Egypt "to finalize technical details," adding that "our goal is to contain these negotiations to a timeframe of a few days."

On Friday, Trump set a deadline, declaring that Hamas must accept the 20-point Gaza peace plan by 6 p.m. Eastern Time (2200 GMT) on Sunday, warning that otherwise "all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas."

Hamas subsequently announced it had accepted the proposal in principle and was prepared to enter mediated talks. This response received broad support from the international community, which urged both parties to seize this opportunity to end the war and alleviate civilian suffering.

The comprehensive 20-point plan outlines a ceasefire-for-hostages agreement, phased Israeli withdrawal, demilitarization of Gaza, and international oversight of Gaza's reconstruction and governance following the conflict. Hamas will be excluded from the governance structure.

Under the ceasefire terms, Israel will halt military operations and withdraw to agreed lines. Within 72 hours of Israel's public acceptance of the agreement, Hamas must release all hostages, both alive and deceased. In return, Israel will free 250 prisoners serving life sentences plus 1,700 Gazans who were detained after October 7, 2023.

Disarmed Hamas members who commit to peaceful coexistence will receive amnesty, and those wishing to leave Gaza will be provided safe passage to receiving countries.
