A remarkable story of fate unfolds as Roshin Ali marries the police officer who once searched for her when she fled her home at age 13.
Twelve years ago, Roshin Ali escaped her Jackson, Tennessee home, terrified that her father might take her life. Officer Tyler Schrupp, then 26, was assigned to the search team tasked with finding the missing teenager, though they never crossed paths during the investigation.
In an extraordinary twist of destiny, their lives intersected years later when Ali, now an adult, began employment at the local sheriff's department, completely unaware that one of her colleagues had been involved in her missing person case.
The two eventually struck up a conversation and felt an instant connection. As Ali shared details about her troubled childhood, Schrupp recognized the familiar circumstances.
"We started putting the dates together and then she described the area," Schrupp explained to The NY Post. "That's when I started to be like, 'Okay, I was a part of that. It's crazy that back then I was looking for you, and now we're sitting here talking."
Their relationship blossomed from colleagues to partners. They began dating, became engaged in August 2024, and now share a five-month-old son together. The couple plans to exchange vows next year.
Ali, who uses the name Roro Nicole on social media, shared their unique love story on TikTok. In her video, she introduces Schrupp as "the officer who went searching for me while missing."
She documented her harrowing experience in a four-part TikTok series detailing her disappearance and subsequent journey.
The events leading to her escape in 2010 were deeply traumatic. Ali described her father as a gambling addict who rarely permitted his children to leave home. After losing all his money, he returned home in a rage and threatened to kill his family.
"We immediately ran into our bedroom because we were afraid that he was going to start beating on us like he normally does whenever he comes home upset," she recounted on TikTok.
As her sister attempted to barricade the door, their father tried to force it open. "So then he told my mom to go get a knife and then he began to try to stab her through the door," Ali remembered.
When he eventually broke through, he dragged her sister away and began a brutal assault with a cable wire. "We can literally hear her begging him not to kill her. He duct taped her hands together, her legs together and then placed duct tape on her mouth so nobody could hear her screaming," she shared.
Ali and her 12-year-old brother escaped through a window and fled to a nearby park. Their father subsequently reported them missing to the police.
Upon the officers' arrival, Ali's sister revealed the abuse, resulting in both parents' arrest, though they were only detained for "a couple of days." Ali and her siblings, ranging from 12 to 16 years old, entered foster care, where she remained until turning 18.
Years later, when Ali began working at the sheriff's department, she and Schrupp discovered their unexpected connection.
"He said, 'I was searching for you,'" Ali recalled. "The whole situation was shocking to both of us, but I thought it was pretty cool."
