Pakistan Hit by 4.5 Magnitude Earthquake: National Center for Seismology Reports Recent Seismic Activity

A 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan on Saturday at 01:59 IST, occurring at a depth of 10 km below the earth's surface, as reported by the National Center for Seismology. This follows a smaller 3.2 magnitude tremor recorded in Karachi earlier that week, highlighting ongoing seismic activity in the region.

4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Pakistan

Pakistan was struck by an earthquake measuring 4.5 in magnitude on Saturday at 01:59 IST (Indian Standard Time), according to the National Center for Seismology.

The seismic activity occurred at a depth of 10 km beneath the earth's surface.

The National Center for Seismology shared details via their 'X' platform, stating: "EQ of M: 4.5, On: 04/10/2025 01:59:40 IST, Lat: 28.30 N, Long: 65.25 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Pakistan."

Earlier that week, on October 2, another earthquake had been recorded in Pakistan's Karachi. This previous tremor measured 3.2 in magnitude, as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department and published by Dawn.

According to PMD information, the Karachi earthquake was detected seven kilometres northwest of Malir at 09:34 am on Wednesday morning. Those tremors were also recorded at a depth of 10 km within the earth's crust.

Islamabad authorities continue to monitor seismic activity in the region.
