Trump Sets Deadline for Hamas Response to Comprehensive Gaza Ceasefire Plan

President Trump has established a deadline for Hamas to respond to a 20-point peace proposal for Gaza that includes immediate ceasefire, hostage exchanges, and Hamas disarmament. The White House confirms Trump will draw a "red line" on the timeframe, as international attention focuses on whether the militant group will accept terms that could end the prolonged conflict.

Trump Will Determine How Long To Give Hamas To Accept Gaza Plan

President Trump will establish a deadline for Hamas to respond to the Gaza ceasefire proposal backed by Israel, according to a White House statement on Thursday.

The White House did not explicitly confirm whether Trump would adhere to his previously announced three to four-day timeframe for Hamas to accept the proposal.

On Tuesday, Trump presented a 20-point peace document that requires Hamas to disarm, a condition the militant group has historically rejected. According to a source close to Hamas, the organization is currently reviewing the proposal.

When questioned on Fox News about when Hamas would be considered to have rejected the proposal, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt responded: "It's a very good question, and it's a red line that the president of the United States is going to have to draw. And I'm confident that he will. But the president and his team worked very hard on this 20-point, comprehensive, detailed plan that has been applauded all over the world."

Leavitt further emphasized, "This is an acceptable plan, and we hope and we expect Hamas should accept this plan so we can move forward."

The comprehensive peace plan outlines several key provisions including an immediate ceasefire, a complete hostage exchange between Hamas and Israel, a phased Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza, Hamas disarmament, and the establishment of a transitional government led by an international body.

Many elements of this 20-point proposal have appeared in previous ceasefire agreements proposed during the past two years, agreements that at various times have been both accepted and rejected by Israel and Hamas.
