A Canadian court has sentenced Abjeet Kingra to six years in prison for firing at Punjabi singer AP Dhillon's British Columbia home and committing arson under the direction of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Authorities continue to search for second suspect Vikram Sharma, who is believed to have fled Canada after the September 2024 attack that led to Canada classifying the Bishnoi Gang as a terrorist entity.

Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Member Gets 6 Years In Jail For Firing At AP Dhillon's Canada Home

On 24 September 2024, gunshots were fired outside Dhillion's Vancouver residence.

A Canadian court has found a Winnipeg resident guilty of arson and shooting at popular singer AP Dhillon's home in British Columbia last year. According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), 26-year-old Abjeet Kingra received a two-year sentence for arson and six years for discharging a firearm into an occupied residence for his involvement in the 2024 shooting at the Punjabi artist's home in Canada.

The RCMP statement revealed that Kingra was operating under instructions from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in India to carry out targeted criminal activities on Canadian soil. The judge determined that the attack on Dhillon's Vancouver Island residence was part of a broader pattern, not an isolated incident.

Kingra, an Indian national residing in Ontario, will serve his sentences concurrently. With credit for time already served since his October 2024 arrest, he is expected to spend approximately four and a half years incarcerated. Additionally, the court imposed a lifetime prohibition on firearms possession and ordered DNA sampling.

The sentencing follows shortly after the Canadian government's decision to designate the Bishnoi Gang as a terrorist organization that "engages in murder, shootings and arson, and generates terror through extortion and intimidation." This India-based gang has been connected to numerous violent incidents across Canada.

Canadian authorities have also issued an arrest warrant for a second suspect, Vikram Sharma, in connection with the shooting at Dhillon's residence. According to CBC reporting, Sharma is believed to have departed from Canada.

"The sentencing of Abjeet Kingra represents the culmination of months of thorough investigative efforts by our officers... While we are satisfied to see justice in this case, our investigation continues. We remain determined to locate Vikram Sharma and bring him before the judicial system," stated Inspector Stephen Rose, acting officer in charge of West Shore RCMP.

AP Dhillon, recognized for fusing 80s-inspired synth-pop with Punjabi music, has experienced remarkable international success with hit songs including 'Brown Munde', 'Dil Nu', and 'Insane'.

On 24 September 2024, gunfire erupted outside Dhillion's Vancouver home. Two vehicles on the property were set ablaze. Police reported that both vehicles were "fully engulfed" in flames when officers arrived, and evidence indicated multiple bullets had struck the house.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, and police evacuated a resident from the home while firefighters extinguished the flames.

Following the September shooting incident, the Bishnoi gang issued death threats against Dhillon through social media. Kingra was apprehended approximately two months later in Ontario, on October 30, 2024.
