Washington:

An incident occurred at New York's LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday when two Delta Airlines commercial aircraft collided during taxiing operations, resulting in one plane's wing becoming detached. Social media footage, apparently captured from a nearby aircraft, revealed emergency vehicles with flashing lights on the tarmac and visible damage to one aircraft's wing.

Air Traffic Control audio confirmed that the nose section of one aircraft made contact with the right wing of another while both planes were taxiing.

According to the ATC audio recording, pilots reported windshield damage following the collision.

ABC News reported that one person suffered injuries in the accident, which occurred at approximately 9:56 p.m. local time.

Delta Airlines had not released an official statement regarding the incident at the time this report was filed.

According to CBS News, one of their producers was aboard flight DL5047, which had arrived from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. During taxiing after landing in New York, one of the aircraft's wings became entangled with another Delta regional jet, resulting in the wing breaking off.

This collision adds to a series of safety incidents at LaGuardia Airport in recent months. In March, a Delta aircraft's wing struck the runway during a landing attempt, necessitating a go-around procedure and triggering a Federal Aviation Administration investigation.
