The 'Lawh Wa Qalam: MF Husain Museum' will welcome visitors beginning November 28, showcasing the renowned artist's legacy.
Dubai:
Doha, Qatar will soon host a museum honoring MF Husain, a pioneering figure in modern art history, with its grand opening scheduled for next month.
The 'Lawh Wa Qalam: MF Husain Museum' will commence public access on November 28, aiming to nurture creativity and cultural exchange.
Kholoud M. Al-Ali, Executive Director of Community Engagement and Programming at Qatar Foundation, stated: "Designed as a space for inspiration and creativity, Lawh Wa Qalam: MF Husain Museum reflects Qatar Foundation's dedication to providing spaces for everyone to explore, enjoy, learn from, and be inspired by art and culture."
The foundation anticipates this institution will significantly enhance Qatar's cultural offerings.
Visitors will experience an immersive journey into Maqbool Fida Husain's artistic world, exploring the various influences, philosophical perspectives, and personal memories that defined his creative development. The museum will present Husain's artistic vision through diverse media including paintings, films, tapestry, photography, and poetry, offering innovative interpretations that will resonate with audiences throughout Qatar and the broader region.
Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, who chairs the Qatar Foundation, commissioned Husain to create a series of paintings inspired by Arab civilization. Before his passing, he completed over 35 works in this series, several of which will be featured among the exhibition pieces.
The museum's architecture is based on Husain's own sketch illustrating his conceptual vision for the building, which he considered an artwork itself, embodying his lifelong commitment to innovation and his multidisciplinary artistic approach.
