Florida Man Arrested for Killing and Eating Pet Peacocks in Disturbing Revenge Plot

According to the New York Post, Craig Vogt was arrested in Hudson after depositing a letter in his neighbor's mailbox that detailed the killing and culinary preparation of two peacocks. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office affidavit states that Vogt claimed responsibility for killing the birds because his neighbor persisted in feeding them.

He graphically described the method of killing the peacocks by slicing their necks with a knife before cooking them in a frying pan. Vogt reportedly left the letter as an intimidation tactic toward his neighbor, suggesting he would continue to eliminate his pet peacocks if she didn't cease providing them food.

The conflict between Vogt and his neighbor had been escalating, with a previous verbal confrontation regarding the pet birds. During his arrest, Vogt made an alarming statement to law enforcement, declaring his intention to kill all his remaining peacocks to prevent others from assuming custody of them.

"While being transported to jail, the defendant stated that upon his release, he plans to kill all his pet peacocks to prevent anyone from taking custody of them," documented the deputy in the report.

Vogt is charged with aggravated animal cruelty, a third-degree felony. Court records reveal he has an extensive history with over 40 prior cases in Pasco County, including charges for public intoxication, traffic violations, and aggravated assault.
