President Trump's 24-Karat Gold Oval Office Renovation Draws International Attention and Domestic Criticism

President Donald Trump's recent showcase of 24-Karat gold decorations in the White House Oval Office has generated mixed reactions. While Trump claims foreign leaders are impressed by the opulent renovations he personally funded, critics question the timing amid domestic and international challenges. The gold embellishments, which Trump describes as giving the office "a little life," have sparked debate about presidential priorities and the authenticity of the materials used.

Trump Flaunts 24-Karat Gold In Oval Office, Says World Leaders "Freak Out"

President Donald Trump recently showcased extravagant gold decorations adorning the Oval Office and Cabinet Room at the White House. On Sunday, he shared visuals of what he termed "some of the highest quality 24 Karat Gold" used in these prestigious spaces.

In his social media post on X, Trump proudly displayed the opulent gold embellishments, claiming that international dignitaries were astounded upon seeing them. "Foreign Leaders and everyone else, 'freak out' when they see the quality and beauty. Best Oval Office ever, in terms of success and look!!!" he wrote, signing the message as "President DJT."

The video footage revealed gold-colored wall mouldings apparently prepared for installation in the White House. This display of luxury quickly circulated online, generating significant criticism regarding its timing.

Many critics highlighted the contrast between these lavish decorations and the challenges facing everyday Americans. Internet users pointed out that while farmers are losing their land, millions face potential loss of healthcare and food assistance, and international conflicts continue in Ukraine and Gaza, Trump's focus on White House opulence seemed disconnected from national priorities.

During a March tour of the Oval Office with a Fox News host, Trump explained that the space needed "a little life" and acknowledged the difficulty of making gold paint appear authentic. A White House spokesperson later clarified to Fox News that all the gold decorations were personally purchased by Trump himself.

While some decorative elements in the White House were initially primed white, online observers suggested they were likely later covered with gold paint or gold leaf prior to installation.

Interestingly, reporter Jon Keegan noted that the decorative medallions visible on the Oval Office walls resembled inexpensive foam decorations available on Chinese e-commerce site Alibaba for approximately $1 each.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had previously characterized the renovation as creating "a golden office for the golden age for both America and the Middle East."
