S Jaishankar Condemns Pakistan as "Epicentre of Global Terrorism" in Powerful UN Address

At the 80th United Nations General Assembly, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar delivered a powerful condemnation of Pakistan's state-sponsored terrorism, citing the recent Pahalgam attack that killed 26 tourists. He called for global action against terrorism financing and denounced nations that openly declare terrorism as state policy, while India's UN representative Petal Gahlot simultaneously challenged Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif's misleading claims about military confrontations.

S Jaishankar Shreds Pakistan At UN

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar delivered a scathing critique of Pakistan at the United Nations, emphasizing that major international terrorist attacks consistently trace back to a single country.

During his address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Jaishankar referenced the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack that resulted in the tragic deaths of 26 innocent tourists.

In a thinly veiled reference to Pakistan, the minister stated, "When nations openly declare terrorism a state policy, when terror hubs operate on an industrial scale, when terrorists are publicly glorified, then such actions must be unequivocally condemned."

Jaishankar explicitly labeled Pakistan as the "epicentre of global terrorism" and held it accountable for decades of terrorist activities worldwide.

"India has confronted this challenge since its independence, having a neighbour that is an epicentre of global terrorism. For decades now, major international terrorist attacks are traced back to that one country. UN's designated lists of terrorists are replete with its nationals," Jaishankar informed the assembly of world leaders.

Addressing Operation Sindoor, he asserted, "India exercised its right to defend its people against terrorism and brought its organisers and perpetrators to justice."

The minister called for decisive action against terrorism, stating, "The financing of terrorism must be choked even as prominent terrorists are sanctioned. Relentless pressure must be applied on the entire terrorism ecosystem. Those who condone nations that sponsor terror will find that it comes back to bite them."

Jaishankar's remarks followed shortly after India's diplomatic representative at the UN, Petal Gahlot, rebuked Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for "glorifying terrorism." Countering Sharif's claim of Pakistan's victory, she revealed that Pakistan's military had "pleaded with us directly for a cessation to the fighting."

Gahlot concluded with a pointed remark: "If destroyed runways and burnt-out hangars look like victory, as the PM claimed, Pakistan is welcome to enjoy it."
