As Palestinian civilian casualties continue to increase, Abu Dhabi opted for engagement rather than protest, holding closed-door meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and choosing to remain seated during his address when other Arab diplomats staged a coordinated walkout.

The UAE's diplomatic stance represents a marked shift for a nation that previously positioned itself as a defender of Arab solidarity, suggesting a strategic calculation that prioritizes diplomatic relationships over regional consensus at a time of humanitarian crisis.

According to official statements, the UAE characterized its meeting with Netanyahu as an effort to "stress the urgent need to end the war in Gaza and protect civilian lives," with discussions also covering regional de-escalation strategies and humanitarian access issues.

The most visible divergence from Arab unity occurred during Netanyahu's UN address, where delegations from Jordan, Qatar, Algeria and others departed the chamber in protest, while UAE representatives remained present, declining to participate in the symbolic demonstration.

The Foreign Ministry further noted his reaffirmation of "the UAE's support for all efforts to achieve a comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution."
