Washington:

Eight months into Donald Trump's second White House term, Americans have evaluated his presidency based on key policy initiatives, including immigration enforcement, crime management, and tariff implementation. According to a Washington Post-Ipsos survey, a majority of Americans - 53 percent - express dissatisfaction with Trump's performance, while 41 percent indicate their support.

The survey requested both critics and supporters to evaluate the Trump administration's approach to vital issues such as crime, tariffs, immigration, and other policy areas.

Among Trump supporters, his immigration enforcement emerged as his most successful initiative, with 55 percent of Americans identifying it as their most appreciated aspect of his presidency. No other policy area received comparable positive feedback from his supporters - just seven percent approved of his federal agency funding and job reductions, five percent endorsed his foreign policy approach, five percent appreciated his presidential style, and only four percent supported the substantial tariffs imposed on America's trading partners.

Approximately twenty-five percent of participants mentioned other issues with even lower approval ratings.

Immigration policy also dominated concerns among Trump's critics, though the proportion of disapprovers was considerably smaller at 20 percent. According to The Washington Post's analysis, aggregate data indicates that approval for Trump's management of deportations and visa policies has increased to 55 percent, up from 39 percent in a February poll.

Conversely, support for government reductions has declined significantly - dropping from 30 percent in February to 7 percent currently - following Tesla CEO Elon Musk's departure from his leadership role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Critics expressed varied concerns about Trump's performance, with 13 percent opposing his handling of tariffs, nine percent accusing him of undermining democracy and the Constitution, and nine percent unable to identify any positive aspects of his presidency thus far.

The Republican President's personal conduct and his handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case disappointed 7 percent of respondents.

The poll, conducted from September 11-15 with 2,513 U.S. adult participants, has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
