French President Emmanuel Macron and his delegation were forced to wait while police cleared New York streets for US President Donald Trump's motorcade on Monday. The incident happened in Manhattan shortly after Macron had delivered his address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly, where he officially announced France's recognition of the State of Palestine.
Social media footage shows Macron and his team conversing with a police officer who explained, "I'm sorry, Mr President, I'm so sorry. It's just that everything is frozen right now. There is a motorcade coming."
During the delay, Macron was captured calling Trump, humorously remarking, "Guess what, I'm waiting in the street because everything is frozen for you."

Following the passage of the motorcade, pedestrian access to the streets was restored, allowing Macron to proceed on foot to the French Embassy. His walk reportedly took approximately half an hour, during which numerous individuals paused to take photographs or greet the French President.
At the high-level UN summit, Macron formally declared France's recognition of the State of Palestine. The meeting, jointly organized by France and Saudi Arabia, highlighted international backing for Palestinian statehood and a two-state solution.
In addition to France, leaders from Andorra, Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta, and Monaco also announced their recognition of Palestine.
Israel and the United States boycotted the summit, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio describing the initiative as a "gift to Hamas" and limiting Palestinian officials' access to the event.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized that Palestinian statehood is a right rather than a reward.
Speaking remotely, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for an end to violence and suggested reforms to enhance governance and social programs in Palestinian territories.
