A 30-year-old influencer from Singapore has been sentenced to wear an electronic monitoring device and adhere to a nighttime curfew after admitting to theft of goods valued over S$600 from Don Don Donki retailer. According to Straits Times reporting, Genie Yamaguchi received a three-month Day Reporting Order (DRO), requiring regular check-ins at a supervision facility and confinement to her residence between 10 pm and 6 am daily. This community-based punishment allows her to avoid both monetary penalties and imprisonment.

Yamaguchi, who operates both a preserved flower business and an aesthetics clinic, admitted guilt to shoplifting 27 items, including beauty products, bags, and food items, with a total value of S$628.90 (approximately Rs 43,483). She has subsequently compensated the retailer for the stolen merchandise.

The court took into consideration her cooperative behavior and clean prior record when issuing the DRO, which incorporates counseling and rehabilitation components.

The theft occurred on August 25 when Yamaguchi and her companion, Lee Suet Keay Cheryl, removed 27 items valued at S$628.90 from Don Don Donki's Orchard Central location at approximately 2:30 am. The stolen merchandise included beauty products such as Colorrose Queen's Cameo Blush priced at S$30.90, Melano CC Brightening Essences worth S$25 each, and a Sanrio tote bag valued at S$67.90, among other items. They placed the goods in a shopping cart and exited without payment, exploiting the store's round-the-clock operations. A staff member later identified them, leading to their apprehension on September 3 and subsequent legal proceedings.

Yamaguchi, who maintains an Instagram following of 14,800 users, acknowledged her guilt regarding the theft. According to Shin Min Daily News, an employee recognized the pair and informed management after reviewing security camera footage that verified the shoplifting incident.

Given her unblemished record, prosecutors requested an assessment for a Day Reporting Order to evaluate her eligibility. On September 23, her legal representative, Joyce Khoo, indicated that Yamaguchi deeply regrets her actions and has committed to avoiding future offenses. Yamaguchi has not made any public statements regarding the case.

The Day Reporting Order represents a community-based sentence that encompasses counseling and rehabilitation services.
