"Don't Want To Be Found": US Woman Goes Missing From Carnival Ship

Carnival Cruise Line has confirmed they are working with local authorities to locate a missing passenger who reportedly expressed a desire not to be found.

A 47-year-old American woman named Jessica Collins has gone missing after intentionally leaving a Carnival Cruise ship during a port stop, according to authorities. Collins reportedly informed cruise staff that she "did not want to be found" before disembarking at Bonaire on September 17.

Carnival Cruise representatives stated that Collins had originally boarded the Carnival Horizon on September 13. Security footage from the day the vessel docked in Bonaire captured her wearing a grey backpack, Hawaiian-style short-sleeved shirt, and cargo shorts.

According to The New York Post, Collins carried all her possessions in her backpack when leaving the ship, and left behind a thank-you note with a cash gratuity for her stateroom attendant.

After disembarking, Collins sent a text message to a member of the Carnival Care Team confirming she "was safe and did not want to be found or contacted again."

While Carnival Cruise Line confirmed they are "cooperating with local authorities" in efforts to locate Collins, they noted that she "appears to have taken intentional action to be alone and on her own."

The luxury eight-day Southern Caribbean cruise had departed from Miami on September 13. CruiseMapper reports that the vessel has since embarked on a new Western Caribbean journey, departing from the same Miami terminal on Sunday.

The search effort involves multiple organizations including the Public Entity of Bonaire, the Port Authority, Tourism Corporation of Bonaire, Carnival Cruise Line security personnel, the ship's head of security, and additional partners supporting local police. A government press release translated from Dutch confirmed that US officials are also involved in the case.

Bonaire officials have requested that anyone with relevant information contact police at 715-8000 or the dedicated tip line (9310), according to PEOPLE magazine.

In an unrelated incident on August 15, two American cruise passengers—a 74-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man—drowned at Carnival Cruise Line's Celebration Key resort on Grand Bahama Island. The $600 million resort had only recently opened on July 19.

The drowning victims had been traveling on separate Carnival vessels: the Carnival Elation from Jacksonville, Florida, and the Mardi Gras from Port Canaveral, Florida.
