The tragic incident occurred in San Mateo Atenco, an industrial zone located approximately 5 kilometers from Toluca airport.
At least seven individuals lost their lives on Monday when a small aircraft crashed while attempting an emergency landing in central Mexico, according to Mexico State Civil Protection Coordinator Adrián Hernández.
The accident happened in San Mateo Atenco, an industrial area situated just 5 kilometers from Toluca airport, approximately 50 kilometers west of Mexico City. The aircraft had departed from Acapulco on Mexico's Pacific coast.
A Cessna Citation III private jet was captured on camera crashing near Toluca Airport in San Pedro Totoltepec, State of Mexico. The private aircraft, registered as XA-PRO, was carrying ten people—two pilots and eight passengers—when it crashed into an industrial warehouse.
Hernandez reported that while the private jet had registered ten individuals on board (eight passengers and two crew members), only seven bodies had been recovered several hours after the crash.
He explained that the aircraft apparently attempted to land on a soccer field but instead collided with the metal roof of a nearby business, igniting a substantial fire. The incident is currently under investigation.
San Mateo Atenco Mayor Ana Muñiz informed Milenio Television that the fire necessitated the evacuation of approximately 130 people from the surrounding area.
