A Sydney fruit shop owner who wrestled a gun from one of the alleged attackers during the mass shooting at Bondi Beach is recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery for bullet wounds to his arm and hand, his family said.

US President Donald Trump called Ahmed "a very, very brave person".
Forty-three-year-old Ahmed al Ahmed was identified on social media as the bystander who courageously hid behind parked cars before charging at the gunman from behind, seizing his rifle and knocking him to the ground.
Australian police on Monday stated that a 50-year-old father and his 24-year-old son perpetrated the attack at a Jewish celebration at Bondi Beach on Sunday afternoon, resulting in 15 fatalities in Australia's worst mass shooting incident in nearly three decades.
Ahmed's cousin Mustafa informed 7News Australia that medical professionals had advised the family that Ahmed was in stable condition following his surgical procedure.
"He is a hero, he is a hundred percent hero," Mustafa expressed.
"He remains hospitalized and we're uncertain about his exact condition... but we remain hopeful for his recovery."
Leaders from both international and domestic spheres have offered numerous tributes.
US President Donald Trump described Ahmed as "a very, very brave person" who prevented numerous casualties. Chris Minns, the premier of New South Wales state where Sydney is located, acclaimed him as "a genuine hero" and remarked that the video footage was "the most unbelievable scene I've ever seen".
A GoFundMe campaign established for Ahmed has raised just over A$200,000 ($132,900) within a few hours. Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman emerged as the largest contributor, donating A$99,999 and sharing the fundraising effort on his X account.
