"Only If Pak Army Chief Can Bat": Imran Khan On How To Beat India

Taking a jibe at Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, jailed former cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan has said that he, along with Army Chief Asim Munir, should bat as openers if they want to win a cricket match against India.

Former Pakistani cricket captain and politician Imran Khan has sarcastically suggested that Pakistan could only defeat India in cricket if the Army Chief Asim Munir and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi opened the batting themselves.

"Only If Pak Army Chief Can Bat": Imran Khan On How To Beat India

The jailed ex-prime minister's remarks were delivered through his sister Aleema Khan following Pakistan's consecutive losses to India in the Asia Cup tournament currently being held in Dubai.

According to Aleema, who spoke to reporters on Monday, Imran Khan proposed a satirical lineup where not only would the Army Chief and PCB Chairman open the batting, but the umpires would be former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, with Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar serving as third umpire.

Khan, who famously captained Pakistan to their only ODI World Cup victory in 1992, has been critical of Naqvi's leadership at the Pakistan Cricket Board, accusing him of undermining Pakistani cricket through "incompetence" and "nepotism."

The 72-year-old politician has consistently accused General Munir of manipulating the February 2024 general election results to deny his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), their rightful mandate. Khan alleges this was accomplished with assistance from then-Chief Justice Isa and Chief Election Commissioner Raja.

Imran Khan has remained incarcerated since August 2023, facing multiple legal cases against him.
