Disney has nominated Jeff Williams, Apple's former Chief Operating Officer, as an independent director to strengthen its board with tech expertise. Williams, who led Apple's Watch development and was instrumental in the iPhone launch, would become Disney's second tech executive alongside former Meta veteran Carolyn Everson if approved at the 2026 shareholders' meeting.

Disney announced on Tuesday its nomination of Jeff Williams, Apple's former Chief Operating Officer, as a candidate for independent director. If elected, Williams would join Disney's board at the company's 2026 annual shareholders' meeting.

Following Williams' potential approval, Disney's board membership would expand to 11 individuals.

Williams concluded his tenure as Apple's COO earlier this year, a position he had held since 2015. His notable contributions at Apple include being part of the original iPhone launch team in 2007, leading the development of the Apple Watch, and spearheading the company's initiatives in health and fitness technology.

The addition of Williams would bring a second technology executive to Disney's leadership structure, following Carolyn Everson's appointment in November 2022. Everson previously served as Instacart's president and held significant positions at Meta Platforms.
