FDA Launches Investigation Into Potential COVID-19 Vaccine-Related Deaths Under Trump Administration

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has launched a comprehensive investigation examining deaths potentially connected to Covid-19 vaccines, according to a statement from Donald Trump's health secretary's spokesperson on Tuesday.

Following Trump's controversial appointment of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as health secretary, the administration has begun a significant restructuring of vaccine policies, raising substantial concerns within medical communities nationwide.

"FDA is conducting a thorough investigation, across multiple age groups, of deaths potentially related to COVID vaccines," confirmed Andrew Nixon, spokesperson for Kennedy's health and human services department, in communication with AFP.

Previous reports about this investigation had already appeared in Bloomberg and the Washington Post.

The review, originally planned to examine possible child fatalities, became controversial after an internal document leaked in late November.

The leaked memo, attributed to a high-ranking FDA official, alleged connections between Covid vaccines and at least 10 infant deaths, though it presented no supporting evidence for these claims.

Covid vaccine safety and efficacy have been extensively documented through global research, which has identified rare instances of severe side effects that medical authorities worldwide maintain do not negate the vaccines' overall benefits for most population groups.

Nixon did not provide specifics regarding the investigation's methodology, data sources, or expected completion timeframe.

Health experts have expressed significant apprehension about the FDA's current direction under Kennedy's influence, as he has a documented history of promoting vaccine misinformation and conspiracy theories.

In 2023, Kennedy made unsubstantiated claims describing the vaccines as deadly and alleged without evidence that the virus itself was "ethnically targeted" to affect Black and White populations while supposedly sparing Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people.
