Dangerous Side Effects: Chinese Woman Hospitalized After Unregulated Weight Loss Injections Cause Severe Health Complications

A young woman from China, aged 28, invested US$130 in a weight-loss treatment package with promises of losing 3.5kg per injection, according to South China Morning Post (SCMP). Unfortunately, following the administration of the injection, the woman from Suzhou in Jiangsu province experienced dangerous complications, including blood vomiting.

According to the report, the woman, known as Chen, discovered the advertisement for these weight loss injections through her friend's social media post. She subsequently paid 900 yuan (approximately US$130) for the complete treatment package consisting of three injections.

Despite injecting only half of the recommended dosage, Chen still experienced adverse effects. She lost 5kg within four days but soon began exhibiting concerning symptoms, including green and yellow vomit, indicating damage to her bile production and stomach lining.

Chen's health rapidly deteriorated, resulting in her vomiting blood. She required hospitalization, and medical professionals warned that her system had incurred significant damage. They advised her to wait at least one year before attempting to conceive a child.

"During the first three days, I genuinely lost almost a kilogram daily. I lost a total of 5kg in just four days," Chen was quoted saying.

"By the fourth day, I began vomiting green and yellow fluids. At the hospital, they informed me it was bile and that I had already damaged the lining of my stomach."

"While lying down for an electrocardiogram, I suddenly vomited blood. My digestive tract was damaged and already bleeding."

"At that point, my pulse had stopped. I was unaware of anything: blood draws, emergency procedures, and atrial fibrillation treatment. I only learned about these events after regaining consciousness. My boyfriend informed me that I had come very close to receiving a critical condition notice."

The report revealed that these weight-loss injections were unregulated and contained illegally sourced semaglutide.

This incident has gone viral on local social media platforms, sparking discussions about the popularity of such products and people's determination to pursue weight loss solutions regardless of potential risks.
