A Dubai-based company announced on Sunday the passing of Devesh Mistry, a notable Indian expatriate entrepreneur in the UAE.
Devesh Mistry, co-founder of Red Blue Blur Ideas and a distinguished Indian expatriate in the UAE, has passed away in Dubai, according to Gulf News reports. He was a significant figure in the Middle East's digital design industry and served as a mentor to numerous university students. Affectionately nicknamed 'Superman', Mistry was instrumental in developing the region's digital experience sector with his emphasis on user-centric design principles.
In 2011, Mistry established Red Blue Blur Ideas alongside Amol Kadam. The company's name cleverly referenced Superman's iconic 'Red Blue Blur' imagery, reflecting Mistry's admiration for the superhero.
His company announced his death on Sunday without revealing the cause. In their LinkedIn statement, Red Blue Blur Ideas shared: "Today, we share news that is deeply painful for all of us at RBBi. Our Co-Founder, Devesh Mistry, passed away."
The tribute continued, "Devesh was a driving force behind RBBi from its earliest days. To many of us, he was our own Superman. He played a defining role in shaping the company, our culture, our thinking, and the way we worked with clients and with each other. This is a moment of grief and reflection for our entire team. We are taking the time and space to support one another through this loss."
Devesh Mistry, commonly known as Dev, co-founded Red Blue Blur Ideas (RBBi) in 2011, which became one of Dubai's pioneering specialized UX, UI, and digital performance marketing agencies. His professional journey began in coding during the late 1990s, but he later pivoted to focus on user experience after recognizing its crucial role in design, ultimately leading to the creation of his own company.
Throughout his distinguished career, he collaborated with prominent global brands including Microsoft, IBM, Telstra Australia, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Mini Cooper, MasterCard, L'Oreal, Emirates NBD, and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dev demonstrated a strong commitment to mentoring others in their professional development. He held various positions at the University of Dubai as a lecturer, mentor, and curriculum developer, primarily focusing on digital strategy programs. Previously, while residing in Australia, he also served briefly as a lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney.
Dev earned a physics degree from Mumbai and held credentials as a Microsoft Certified Professional. Additionally, he was a certified member of the User Experience Professionals Association (UXPA).
