Mumbai:

Rahul Bhatia-controlled IndiGo cancelled 562 flights from six metro airports on Monday, with Bengaluru airport experiencing the highest number of cancellations at 150, according to sources.

The airline has been struggling to restore normal operations since last Tuesday, when regulatory changes caused widespread disruptions affecting hundreds of thousands of passengers. Despite these challenges, IndiGo's on-time performance improved to 79.9 percent on Sunday, when it operated 1,650 flights while cancelling 650.

Sources confirmed that IndiGo has cancelled 560 of its 2,300 daily flights from the six major metro airports on Monday. The carrier typically operates flights to and from approximately 90 domestic and over 40 international airports.

Information regarding cancellations from other airports was not available.

The actual number of cancelled flights exceeded earlier projections from the Civil Aviation Ministry, which had stated that IndiGo planned to operate 1,802 flights while cancelling 500 services on Monday.

Of the 560 cancellations, sources told PTI that IndiGo cancelled 76 arrivals and 74 departures from Bengaluru, alongside 83 departures and 60 arrivals from Delhi.

Mumbai and Hyderabad airports faced 98 cancellations (50 arrivals and 48 departures) and 112 cancellations (58 arrivals and 54 departures), respectively.

Kolkata Airport experienced minimal disruption with only two IndiGo flight cancellations on Monday, while Chennai Airport reported 56 cancelled arrivals and departures, according to sources.
