Modi and Putin Share Official Vehicle in Delhi: Strengthening India-Russia Diplomatic Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin demonstrated their close diplomatic relationship by traveling in the same official vehicle after Putin's arrival in Delhi. This mirrors their similar arrangement at September's SCO Summit in China, signaling strong bilateral ties amid international tensions including US tariffs on India's oil trade with Russia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin at Delhi airport today.

New Delhi:

Upon leaving the airport in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin shared the same official vehicle.

According to the website Flight Radar 24, Putin's aircraft was the most tracked flight globally before it landed.

This isn't the first time the two leaders have traveled together; Prime Minister Modi and President Putin also shared a vehicle at the SCO Summit venue in China's Tianjin in September 2025.

At the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in September, they traveled in the same car to their bilateral meeting location after the main proceedings concluded.

Their shared car ride during the SCO event sent a strong visual message, particularly as US President Donald Trump announced tariffs targeting New Delhi's oil trade with Moscow.

While in China, PM Modi's car followed Putin's Aurus Senat, but today in Delhi, the situation was reversed with the Russian President's vehicle trailing behind the Toyota Fortuner carrying both leaders.
