Putin Warns Europe of Russia's War Readiness Ahead of Critical US Peace Talks on Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared Russia's readiness for conflict if Europe desires war, as US envoys visit Moscow to discuss a controversial 28-point peace plan for Ukraine. European leaders are accused of sabotaging negotiations by making changes to Trump's proposal that Putin claims are "absolutely unacceptable" for Russia, highlighting tensions between US-led peace efforts and European concerns about territorial concessions.

Washington has presented a 28-point draft to end the war in Ukraine.

Russia:

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared on Tuesday that Russia stands "ready" for war if Europe desires such conflict, accusing European leaders of attempting to undermine peace negotiations on Ukraine before his meeting with American diplomats.

The statement came as US envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner visited Moscow for crucial discussions aimed at ending the nearly four-year conflict, following days of intensive diplomatic efforts.

"We have no intentions of going to war with Europe, but if Europe wants war and initiates it, we are fully prepared," Putin stated to reporters in Moscow.

"They lack a peaceful agenda and are positioned on the side of conflict," he added, reiterating his assertion that European leaders are obstructing American attempts to broker peace in Ukraine.

Putin further claimed that European modifications to Trump's latest peace proposal were "aimed exclusively at one objective — to completely obstruct the entire peace process and present demands that are absolutely unacceptable for Russia."

The United States has put forward a 28-point draft to resolve the conflict, which was subsequently revised following criticism from Kyiv and European nations, who viewed it as conceding to many of Russia's maximalist demands.

While Trump champions this plan to end the war, European countries fear it may force Ukraine to surrender to Russian demands, particularly regarding territorial concessions.

Concerned about potential further Russian aggression, European leaders have consistently maintained that an unjust peace agreement should not be imposed on Ukraine.

The Trump envoys are now working to finalize the peace plan with approval from both Moscow and Kyiv.
