"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved client and friend, Tom Stoppard," the talent agency stated. "His legacy includes works of remarkable brilliance and humanity, distinguished by his wit, irreverence, generous spirit, and profound appreciation for the English language."
"Working with Tom and knowing him personally was truly an honor," the agency added.
While many may recognize Stoppard primarily through his cinematic achievements, his contributions extended to numerous celebrated franchises, including "Indiana Jones" and "Star Wars." His most acclaimed screenplay for "Shakespeare in Love" earned him an Academy Award in 1999, with the film collecting a total of seven Oscars that year.
Born in Czechoslovakia in 1937, Stoppard escaped during the Nazi occupation and found sanctuary in Britain. Following his education, he established himself initially as a journalist before transitioning to playwriting.
