A tragic incident occurred in Gujarat's Amreli district when a one-year-old girl was fatally attacked by a leopard, according to forest department officials who reported the incident on Friday.
The attack happened at approximately 6 pm on Thursday in Trambakpur village, as stated in an official report from the Dalkhaniya Range of the state forest department.
According to the statement, "The daughter of Arjun Ninama was sitting next to her mother who was preparing a meal in their home when a leopard suddenly entered and seized the child. Despite the mother's desperate attempts to drive away the predator, even striking it with a cooking vessel, she was unable to save her daughter. The child's body was later discovered near their residence, which is situated approximately 3 kilometers from the Amreli wildlife sanctuary."
Following the incident, personnel from both the forest department and local police arrived at the scene to commence an investigation. In response to the attack, the Dalkhaniya Range has placed seven cages throughout the area in an effort to capture the leopard.
The report further mentioned that Arjun Ninama, originally from Madhya Pradesh, was working as an agricultural laborer in Trambakpur village.
In a separate but similarly tragic incident just a day earlier, a two-year-old girl lost her life in an attack by a lioness in Gir Gadhada taluka, located in Gir Somnath district.
