Bandhu Maan Singh Sekhon, who escaped from Canada and returned to India this August, has been apprehended by Delhi Police Crime Branch for his alleged involvement in the conspiracy targeting comedian Kapil Sharma's cafe in Canada.

Authorities report that Sekhon provided both weapons and vehicles to the shooters responsible for the attack. Though not personally participating in the shooting incident, investigators claim he played an instrumental role in orchestrating the attack plan.

The investigation began when Canadian authorities identified the vehicle used during the shooting incident. This discovery prompted Sekhon to flee Canada, arriving in India by August.

His connection to the case emerged after Delhi Police arrested members of an arms smuggling network. During interrogation, these individuals disclosed supplying weapons to Sekhon in Ludhiana, enabling the Crime Branch to locate and apprehend him.

Law enforcement records reveal Sekhon has multiple existing criminal cases against him. At the time of arrest, officers confiscated a sophisticated PX-3 "Made in China" pistol along with eight live rounds of ammunition.

Joint Commissioner of Crime Branch Delhi Police Surender Kumar stated that Sekhon first traveled to Canada in 2019 on an employment visa, working at several locations. "He subsequently made connections with extremist elements and served time in prison for certain offenses. These prison associations led to his involvement with these groups," Kumar explained to ANI.

DCP Crime Branch Sanjeev Kumar Yadav revealed that Sekhon's name appeared in relation to a previous arms supply case. Yadav further noted, "Following his apprehension, we discovered he is a Canada-based criminal who recently returned to India from Canada in August and was implicated in numerous shooting incidents and extortion cases there, having previously faced arrest in Canada."

A disturbing video has emerged showing Sekhon recklessly firing a shotgun into the air. The footage depicts him in what appears to be a snowy Canadian setting, wearing a biker jacket and glasses, filming himself while dangerously discharging the firearm.

Investigators believe Sekhon functions as an operator for the Goldy Dhillon gang, known as a transnational criminal network operating between India and Canada. Police continue to investigate how the plot against Kapil Sharma's cafe was developed and who else might be involved.

Kapil Sharma's 'Kaps Cafe,' which opened in Surrey, British Columbia in July, has experienced three separate shooting incidents. The first attack occurred on July 10, followed by subsequent incidents on August 7 and October 16. All attacks were perpetrated by unidentified assailants. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in any of these events.
