Approximately 25 years ago, Khatik operated a modest push-cart, peddling fruits and vegetables on street corners. His gold fascination began early in life, inspired by renowned music composer Bappi Lahiri. A pivotal moment came when a friend loaned him a 20-gram gold chain - an event that ignited what would develop into a lifelong obsession.

As his business prospects improved, Khatik expanded into importing apples from Kashmir to sell in Chittorgarh. His enterprise flourished, allowing him to indulge unreservedly in his passion for precious metals. Currently, he wears approximately 3.5 kg of jewelry - including elaborate chains, rings, and various ornaments. At present gold rates (Rs 1.29 lakh per 10 grams of 24-karat gold), his daily attire represents roughly Rs 4.1 crore in value. Surprisingly, he moves about without personal security. Additionally, he serves as district president of the local Khatik community association.

Unfortunately, Khatik's gleaming public image has attracted unwanted attention. The 50-year-old businessman recently received threats from callers claiming affiliation with the Rohit Godara gang. The intimidation began with a missed WhatsApp call from an unknown number, followed by another call and an audio message demanding Rs 5 crore.
The threatening caller stated: "Give me Rs 5 crore, otherwise you will not be able to wear the gold. Do something that will make both sides agree, otherwise you will not be left fit enough to wear gold again."
Following these threats, Khatik promptly reported the incident to the City Kotwali police station. Authorities have registered a case involving extortion and criminal intimidation and have initiated a comprehensive investigation.
