Tragic Case in Gujarat: Woman Drowns Infant Daughter Before Taking Her Own Life Amid Family Disputes

According to police officials on Thursday, a woman allegedly took the life of her eight-month-old daughter before committing suicide in Sankheda taluka within Gujarat's Chottaudepur district.

"Sangeeta Bhil from Pipalsat village reportedly drowned her 8-month-old daughter in an open water tank near their residence on Wednesday while her husband Girish was out getting milk. Upon his return, Girish discovered his daughter had drowned, and Sangeeta was nowhere to be found," stated the official.

"Girish later discovered Sangeeta's body hanging from a tree approximately 150 metres from their home. In his statement to the police, Girish's father claimed that Sangeeta had been experiencing stress due to family conflicts and was afraid her parents would separate her from Girish. The couple had married after eloping," the official explained.

The investigation continues as authorities await the post mortem results, the official further added.
