Following the investigation, the pending hospital bill was waived.
Officials reported on Thursday that a case has been filed against a private hospital and an ambulance driver for allegedly transferring a paralysed patient from a government medical college to a private facility in exchange for commission.
According to Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Ashok Kataria, Mukesh Kumar from Ghaziabad was initially admitted to Meerut Medical College on November 15.
The following day, an ambulance driver named Tushar reportedly persuaded the family to move the patient to Alpha Hospital in Mangalpande Nagar, promising enhanced care for Rs 25,000.
After spending over Rs 90,000 without seeing significant improvement in the patient's condition, the family filed a complaint on Wednesday, Dr Kataria stated.
In response to the complaint, the Deputy CMO conducted an investigation confirming that Mukesh had been admitted to Alpha Hospital, with the ambulance driver's details recorded in the hospital register. The official added that the hospital management failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for accepting a patient from a government facility.
Following the investigation, the hospital waived the outstanding bill and referred the patient back to the medical college.
Officials said that the Deputy CMO submitted the investigative report to the Meerut commissioner, district magistrate, senior superintendent of police, and the CMO office.
Based on these findings, the Medical College police station has registered a case against Alpha Hospital and the ambulance driver, with legal proceedings currently in progress, according to the CMO.
