CBI Arrests Abul Hossen Molla: Key Suspect in Sandeshkhali Attack on Enforcement Directorate Team

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Abul Hossen Molla, the primary suspect who allegedly led an attack against Enforcement Directorate officials in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal. Despite evading multiple notices and a non-bailable warrant, Molla was apprehended in South 24 Parganas district in connection with the January 2023 assault that occurred during a raid related to a ration distribution scam investigation.

CBI Arrests Key Accused Behind Attack On Probe Agency Team In Sandeshkhali

The CBI has alleged that Abul Hossen Molla was a key figure who orchestrated the attack on enforcement officials.

Abul Hossen Molla, also known as Duronto, has been apprehended by the CBI. He was wanted in relation to the alleged assault on an Enforcement Directorate team in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, which occurred on January 5 last year, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

The incident involved a mob attacking the ED personnel when they arrived in Sandeshkhali to conduct a raid at the residence of suspended Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh regarding an alleged ration distribution scam, according to officials.

The authorities arrested Molla, who had repeatedly failed to comply with investigation notices and had a non-bailable warrant issued against him by a local court. The arrest took place around 8 pm on Tuesday in South 24 Parganas district, officials reported.

According to CBI allegations, Molla played a central role as a key accused who directed the assault on ED officials in January 2024.

On March 5, 2024, the Calcutta High Court made the decision to transfer the investigation from the West Bengal Police to the CBI.
