Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver an address to the nation at 5 pm today, according to an announcement from his office. The subject of his speech has not yet been confirmed, sparking widespread speculation about the content of his upcoming remarks.

The timing of this national address carries significant implications. It comes just one day before the implementation of GST 2.0 reforms, suggesting this could be the focus of the Prime Minister's communication. Other potential topics include the recent US crackdown on H1B visa holders—a policy change affecting numerous Indian technology professionals working in America—as well as ongoing tariff disputes between New Delhi and Washington, DC.

Since assuming India's highest executive office in 2014, Prime Minister Modi has regularly addressed the nation to announce significant government decisions. On November 8, 2016, he announced the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. The current GST (Goods and Services Tax) structure consists of four tax slabs—5, 12, 18, and 28 percent. The upcoming GST reforms will introduce a simplified two-tier system with 5 percent and 18 percent rates covering most items, while luxury goods will continue to attract a higher GST rate of 40 percent.
