A significant disruption hit Google Meet across India on Wednesday, preventing thousands of users from accessing video conferencing services.
The widespread outage forced cancellations of work meetings, online classes, and interviews as users struggled to connect to the platform.
According to Downdetector, an outage-tracking website, approximately 1,760 users had reported issues by 1:55 p.m.
Among these reports, 63 percent indicated the website was non-functional, while 35 percent identified server problems.
A smaller percentage, around 3 percent, experienced video quality issues. Many users encountered a "502, that's an error" message when attempting to join meetings.
The social media platform X quickly became flooded with posts from frustrated users questioning whether others were experiencing similar problems.
Users shared screenshots alongside messages like "Google Meet down for everyone?" and "Why is Google Meet down??"
Many tagged @GoogleIndia seeking information, while accounts such as @metawire urged Google to resolve the issue promptly as calls could not be joined.
One user lamented, "Itni mushkil se to interview mila tha, google meet hi down chala gaya."
Adding to the confusion, some users reported that Google Meet was inaccessible for everyone in their organization except themselves.
Others mentioned they could join meetings while their colleagues could not.
The outage triggered both humorous responses and concern, with users questioning why multiple major platforms were failing this month.
One individual noted, "First Cloudflare, then AWS... now GCP wants a turn too," while another mentioned they were still "waiting for a GCP outage" given the pattern.
Google has not released an official statement regarding the cause of the disruption.
This incident follows just one week after a massive internet outage linked to Cloudflare affected numerous parts of the online world.
