Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Tuesday that while India seeks peace, it will never permit its borders or national security to be compromised.
Speaking at a state-level function commemorating the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur in Kurukshetra, PM Modi commended Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
"We desire peace, but we do not compromise on the security of our borders," the Prime Minister affirmed during his address honoring the ninth Sikh Guru.
PM Modi emphasized that the global community has witnessed how the new India neither fears terrorism nor halts in the face of it, nor bows before it.
He further stated that contemporary India is progressing with full strength, courage, and clarity in its approach.
The Prime Minister recalled a significant moment when the three original forms of the Guru Granth Sahib were brought from Afghanistan, describing it as "a moment of pride for every Indian."
He highlighted his government's consistent efforts to strengthen spiritual and cultural connections to Sikh heritage.
PM Modi recounted how the ninth Sikh Guru, beginning his journey from Anandpur Sahib, connected numerous villages with the Sangat, enhancing their devotion and faith while transforming societal conduct.
He noted that residents of these villages abandoned cultivation of all intoxicants and dedicated their future to Guru Sahib.
The Prime Minister stressed that by following Guru Maharaj's guidance, if society, families, and youth collectively wage a decisive battle against addiction, this problem could be eradicated completely.
PM Modi suggested that Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib's teachings should form the foundation of peace in conduct, balance in policies, and trust in society, which he described as the essence of the occasion.
He pointed out that the nationwide observance of Guru Tegh Bahadur's martyrdom day demonstrates how the Gurus' teachings remain vibrant in society's consciousness today.
The Prime Minister concluded by expressing hope that these celebrations would serve as meaningful inspiration for youth to advance India forward, and extended his greetings to all attendees.
