Senior IAS Officer Mahantesh Bilagi and Two Others Die in Fatal Karnataka Road Accident

Police have initiated an investigation following the tragic incident.

A devastating road accident in Karnataka today claimed the lives of a prominent IAS officer and two other individuals.

The tragic collision took place near Gounahalli in Jewargi taluk of Kalaburagi district as Mahantesh Bilagi was traveling from Vijayapura to Kalaburagi in an Innova vehicle.

At the time of the incident, Bilagi held the position of managing director (MD) at Karnataka State Minerals Corporation Limited. Previously, he had served as the MD of Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM).

After sustaining critical injuries in the crash, he was immediately transported to a private medical facility in Kalaburagi for emergency treatment. Despite the medical team's extensive efforts, they were unable to save his life.

Images from the scene revealed the severely damaged vehicle with significant dents and a shattered windshield.

Law enforcement has filed a case and is conducting a thorough investigation into the accident.
