The young couple revealed they had eloped because their families opposed their relationship.
Kutch:
A Pakistani couple eloped from their homeland and undertook a challenging journey on foot to reach the India-Pakistan border in Gujarat's Kutch district, only to be apprehended by security forces upon arrival.
Police reports indicate that Border Security Force (BSF) personnel detained Popat (24) and Gauri (20) after they crossed the international boundary on Monday.
The couple had fled their village in Pakistan, located approximately 8 kilometers from the international border, on Sunday night and traveled the entire distance by foot, according to an official from the Balasar police station.
BSF personnel conducting routine patrols near border pillar number 1016 intercepted the pair, the official stated.
During interrogation, the couple disclosed they had eloped because their families were opposed to their marriage, the official explained.
Relevant agencies will conduct further investigation into the matter, and an FIR has yet to be registered, he added.
Police sources confirmed this represents the second such incident in two months. Previously, two individuals were similarly apprehended at the border on October 8.
