Mumbai Police Finds Missing Child After 6 Months, Anand Mahindra Shares Emotional Note

The kidnapper abandoned the child near the Varanasi railway station after abduction.

Industrialist Anand Mahindra has praised the Mumbai Police for their extraordinary commitment in finding four-year-old Aarohi, who had disappeared from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) area. After six months of searching, the police successfully reunited the child with her family. The incident occurred when Aarohi's family traveled from Solapur to Mumbai for her father's medical treatment in May 2025, and she went missing while the family was resting near CSMT station.

The Mumbai Police initiated an extensive search operation that included analyzing hundreds of CCTV footage, distributing posters throughout multiple cities and railway stations including Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Bhusawal, and Varanasi Cantt, and coordinating efforts across several states. Reports indicate some officers carried Aarohi's photograph in their shirt pockets throughout the investigation.

A breakthrough occurred when a journalist in Varanasi spotted one of the police posters and recalled a young girl at a local orphanage who spoke Marathi. The child had been abandoned near Varanasi railway station by the kidnapper, who remains at large. She was subsequently taken to a shelter home where she was temporarily given the name "Kashi".

Police confirmed her identity through a video call, and Aarohi was brought back to Mumbai on November 14, Children's Day, for an emotional reunion with her parents. Anand Mahindra expressed his deep appreciation for the police force's persistent efforts by sharing the touching story originally written by Mohini Maheshwari. He wrote, "Mumbai Police…You just gave us the gift of hope and happiness. For this alone, you rank as one of the finest forces in the world."
