Umar Un Nabi was the terrorist responsible for detonating a car bomb in Delhi.
New Delhi:
Umar Un Nabi, the doctor who became a suicide bomber and detonated a car bomb near Delhi's Red Fort, referred to himself as the "emir" to establish his position as ruler, leader, and almost prince-like figure among other members of his white collar terror module, sources informed NDTV.
Investigators have collected substantial incriminating evidence during the interrogation of several arrested terror suspects from the white collar module that was dismantled in Haryana's Faridabad.
The description of the suicide bomber as "emir" came from Muzamil Shakeel, a doctor at Faridabad's Al-Falah University who was the first recruit to the terror module by Jaish-e-Mohammed's primary contact, Maulvi Irfan Ahmed.
Additional critical information has been provided by another arrested terror suspect, Shaheen Saeed, according to sources.
Investigators revealed that Muzamil Shakeel described himself as merely a "mere labourer" compared to Umar Un Nabi's status and experience. The terrorists named their plan 'Operation Emir,' with the suicide bomber as their central figure.
According to investigators citing Muzamil Shakeel's testimony, Umar Un Nabi was fluent in nine languages and was considered the most educated and intelligent member of the terror module. Muzamil Shakeel portrayed the suicide bomber as someone with the potential to have become a nuclear scientist.
Investigators quoted Muzamil Shakeel as saying, "We couldn't resist him [Umar Un Nabi]. His words were full of facts and research. He always called himself emir and didn't talk much. Till the end he maintained that it was about religion and nothing else."
Sources indicate that Umar Un Nabi frequently told the other doctors in the white collar terror module that Muslims faced a deteriorating atmosphere in India, that polarization had become the norm, and that genocide was possible, so they needed to be prepared.
The arrested terror suspect informed investigators that certain incidents and events pushed Umar Un Nabi to become a suicide bomber. These included the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status, which fueled his deep hatred for security forces; the communal violence in Haryana's Mewat-Nuh region in July 2023; and the murders of Nasir, 25, and Junaid, 35, allegedly by cow vigilantes in March 2023.
Day Of The Blast Near Red Fort
According to investigators, Umar Un Nabi transported a partially completed improvised explosive device (IED) in the Hyundai i20 car used in the suicide bombing. Sources revealed that he incorporated acetone (nail polish remover) and powdered sugar in constructing the bomb.
Sources indicate that initially, the terror module planned to transport hidden explosives from Haryana to Jammu and Kashmir, where Umar Un Nabi had envisioned a major operation. When this plan failed, the suicide bomber began sourcing urea for the IED from the Nuh-Mewat region.
The arrested terror suspects informed investigators that Umar Un Nabi tested explosives and chemical reactions in his room at Al-Falah University. This information was corroborated by bomb-making materials discovered in his suitcase by police.
The suicide attack at a traffic stop in crowded Chandni Chowk claimed 15 lives.
