Purnea:
During a public rally on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the Congress party for purportedly comparing Bihar's residents to 'bidis', calling it a "disrespect to Biharis". He predicted that the people of Bihar would deliver a strong response to the INDIA bloc opposition alliance in the forthcoming assembly elections.
The controversy stemmed from a now-removed social media post by the Congress party's Kerala division that appeared to connect "Bihar with bidis" while criticizing the central government's GST regulations on tobacco products.
Speaking to the crowd, the PM declared, "Congress leaders are saying 'bidis' and Bihar both begin with B. This is an outright insult to the state and its citizens. They will respond firmly to the Congress and its coalition partners in the near future." Modi criticized both the RJD and Congress for alleged poor governance during their administration in Bihar.
The prime minister also accused opposition parties of supporting illegal immigrants in the state, promising that the NDA government would expel them.
"Bihar has endured considerable hardship due to RJD and Congress mismanagement. They cannot accept the state's progress. Women across the state will respond decisively to the opposition during elections," Modi stated.
He emphasized that the eastern state has consistently been crucial for national development, safety, and security.
Modi accused RJD and Congress leaders of focusing solely on their family interests, asserting that his own principle is 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vishwas' (Together with all, trust of all).
"Modi's priority is to assist the underprivileged," he remarked.
The prime minister also announced that the central government has issued a notification establishing the National Makhana Board to support farmers.
"Four crore permanent houses have already been distributed to impoverished citizens, with another three crore currently under construction," he added.
