3 More Teachers Summoned In Delhi Class 10 Student's Suicide Probe

Delhi Police summoned three additional teachers from St Columbia's School on Monday for questioning regarding the suicide of a Class 10 student who allegedly took his life due to mental harassment.

Two of the three previously summoned teachers were questioned on Sunday, with their statements being recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.

According to police officials, the new summons were issued following the seizure of a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) containing footage of the incident where the boy was reportedly reprimanded after making a mistake during a drama club performance.

The student's father is scheduled to meet with Joint Commissioner of Police (Transport) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere on Monday evening to discuss the case.

Investigators have begun a detailed frame-by-frame analysis of the footage, comparing it with statements already collected from classmates and other students who witnessed the incident.

An FIR was registered on charges related to abetment of suicide after the boy allegedly ended his life by jumping in front of a train at Rajendra Place Metro Station on November 18.

Police recovered a suicide note in which the student named several teachers, accusing them of persistent mental harassment. In the note, he also apologized to his family and expressed his wish to donate his organs.

As part of their rapidly progressing investigation, police have already documented statements from numerous classmates and other students.

The four staff members mentioned in the suicide note, including the headmistress for classes 4-10 and the coordinator for classes 9-10, were placed under temporary suspension immediately following the incident.

Investigators are examining CCTV and DVR footage, student statements, and school records to verify the sequence of events and determine whether the actions of the school staff constituted criminal harassment that drove the boy to suicide.

Police officials stated that the staff members will be called for questioning after the preliminary technical examination is completed.
