Bengaluru Techie Loses Rs 48 Lakh in Fake Ayurvedic Sexual Health Treatment Scam

A Bengaluru software engineer has filed a police complaint after being defrauded of Rs 48 lakh by an alleged Ayurvedic practitioner and shop owner who sold extremely expensive fake medicines for sexual health problems. The victim also suffered kidney damage from the purported treatments. Police have registered an FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused, who threatened the victim's life if treatment was discontinued.

Bengaluru police's southwest division has filed an FIR against an alleged Ayurvedic practitioner and an Ayurvedic shop proprietor after a software engineer reported being swindled of approximately Rs 48 lakh while also suffering kidney damage from supposed herbal treatments.

The complaint, submitted on November 22, identifies two accused individuals - Vijay Guruji and the owner of Vijayalaxmi Ayurvedic Shop located in Yeshwantpur.

According to the FIR details, the victim was enticed on May 3, 2025, by a roadside Ayurvedic establishment promising rapid solutions for sexual health issues. The accused reportedly prescribed expensive remedies including Devaraj Booti (priced at Rs 1.6 lakh per gram) and Bhavan Booti Taila (costing Rs 76,000 per gram), forcing repeated purchases by threatening that discontinuing treatment could endanger the victim's life.

Authorities registered the FIR under sections 123, 316(2), 318(4), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

In a separate incident, three unidentified attackers were apprehended on Sunday in Bengaluru after assaulting an individual and issuing death threats. Wilson Garden police conducted an operation resulting in the seizure of two firearms, a mobile phone, a silver chain and a two-wheeler from the suspects, according to DCP Central Bengaluru.

DCP Central Bengaluru Akshay M Hakay explained, "On November 15, at approximately 05:00 am, the complainant was traveling on a two-wheeler near the Ayyappa Temple in Shantinagar when three unknown assailants intercepted him, attacked him with a weapon, and threatened his life. We registered a case and launched an investigation. During our inquiry, three suspects in this case were arrested and thoroughly questioned."

The DCP further noted that the accused had stolen a two-wheeler.

"The suspects stole a two-wheeler. Three individuals on this vehicle displayed firearms to the public, intimidated them, and forcibly took two mobile phones and a silver chain from the complainant. Our investigation continues," he added.

This police operation was conducted under the supervision of Central Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshay M Hake.
