Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Claims Sindh May Return to India as Borders Can Change

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made a notable statement suggesting that while Sindh province is currently part of Pakistan, it historically belongs to India and borders could change in the future. He referenced the cultural and religious significance of the region to Indians, particularly mentioning LK Advani's sentiments about Sindh's separation, while also expressing similar views about the potential return of PoK to India.

New Delhi:

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh remarked at an event that although the Sindh region is not currently part of India, borders can change and the region might return to India in the future.

Following the Partition in 1947, the Sindh province, located near the Indus River, became part of Pakistan, causing many Sindhi people to migrate to India.

The Defence Minister highlighted that Sindhi Hindus, particularly those from the generation of leaders like LK Advani, have never accepted Sindh's separation from India.

"I'd also like to mention that Lal Krishna Advani wrote in one of his books that Sindhi Hindus, especially those of his generation, still haven't accepted the separation of Sindh from India," he stated.

"Not just in Sindh, but throughout India, Hindus consider the Indus River sacred. Many Muslims in Sindh also believed that the water of the Indus was no less sacred than the Aab-e-Zamzam of Mecca. This is Advani ji's quote," he added.

"Today, the land of Sindh may not be a part of India, but civilisationally, Sindh will always be a part of India. And as far as land is concerned, borders can change. Who knows, tomorrow Sindh may return to India again. Our people of Sindh, who hold the Indus River sacred, will always be our own. No matter where they are, they will always be ours," the Defence Minister remarked.

During an interaction with the Indian community in Morocco on September 22, Singh expressed confidence that India would regain PoK without taking aggressive measures, as people in PoK have been demanding freedom from occupation.

"PoK will be ours on its own. Demands have started being made in PoK, you must have heard sloganeering," Singh said.

Some experts had suggested that during India's Operation Sindoor against terror infrastructure and supporting Pakistani forces, India should have advanced into PoK to secure territory that rightfully belongs to India.
