Wife Of Maharashtra Minister's Key Aide Dies By Suicide Over 'Harassment'

The family of the deceased has claimed she endured torture and harassment from her husband.

Mumbai:

In central Mumbai, the wife of Pankaja Munde's personal assistant reportedly took her own life at her home following domestic disputes, according to police statements released Sunday.

Officials reported that Gauri Palve, whose husband Anant Garje serves as a personal assistant to Maharashtra's Animal Husbandry and Environment Minister Pankaja Munde, was discovered hanging in her Worli area residence on Saturday evening.

The couple had married in February of this year, with Palve working as a doctor in the dental department at the municipal-operated KEM Hospital.

Police sources indicate that Palve's relatives have alleged she experienced torture and harassment from her husband, which they believe drove her to suicide. The family is calling for a comprehensive investigation into her death.

Initial findings suggest the suicide may have resulted from ongoing domestic conflicts, the official noted, adding that authorities have registered an accidental death report and investigations are continuing.
