Police registered an FIR on Saturday under various BNS sections as investigation continues into the case.

A Bengaluru-based software engineer has filed a police complaint alleging that he was defrauded of approximately Rs 48 lakh by a self-proclaimed healer who operates an Ayurvedic shop. The victim claims the shop owner sold him extremely expensive and allegedly harmful medications for treating sexual health problems.

The complainant has requested stern legal action against "Vijay Guruji," who owns Vijayalaxmi Ayurvedic Shop, accusing him of fraud, selling harmful substances, and causing serious health complications.

Authorities registered an FIR on Saturday under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the investigation is currently ongoing.

According to the police report, the victim began experiencing sexual health issues following his marriage in 2023. He had been receiving treatment at a multi-specialty medical facility in Kengeri.

The fraud allegedly began on May 3 when the software professional noticed a promotional tent advertising "quick solutions for sexual problems" while traveling. Upon entering the tent out of curiosity, he was directed to "Vijay Guruji," who supposedly could cure his condition.

After an examination, Guruji reportedly recommended an Ayurvedic medicine called Devaraj Booti, claiming it was exclusively available at his establishment and priced at Rs 1,60,000 per gram. The victim was instructed to make payments exclusively in cash and avoid digital transactions.

Trusting the healer's claims, the engineer purchased the medicine and was subsequently sold another product called Bhavan Booti oil, priced at Rs 76,000 per gram. Over the following weeks, he reportedly spent Rs 17 lakh on various medications as directed by Guruji.

The complaint further states that Guruji later insisted the victim purchase additional Devaraj Booti, warning that previous treatments would be ineffective otherwise. The engineer took out a bank loan of Rs 20 lakh to purchase 18 grams of this Ayurvedic preparation.

Additionally, the victim claims he was persuaded to buy another product called Devaraj Rasabooti at Rs 2,60,000 per gram, for which he borrowed Rs 10 lakh from a friend. In total, he alleges spending approximately Rs 48 lakh at the Ayurvedic establishment.

Despite following the medication regimen exactly as prescribed, the victim observed no improvement in his condition. Instead, he reportedly developed kidney damage, which he attributes to the medicines sold to him. When confronting Guruji about these concerns, the victim alleges he was threatened and warned that his condition could deteriorate further and his life might be endangered if he discontinued the treatment.
