Despite experiencing one of its most significant electoral defeats in Bihar, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has maintained its core Muslim-Yadav support base, according to an electoral analysis conducted by Ascendia Strategies.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) delivered a historic performance in the November elections, securing 202 seats out of 243. However, this impressive victory did not come at the expense of the RJD's traditional voter base. The analysis revealed that Muslim-Yadav votes constituted 60% of the Mahagathbandhan's total vote share.
Yadav voters contributed 10% to the overall 38% vote share received by Tejashwi Yadav's Opposition alliance, while Muslim voters accounted for 13% of their support.
In contrast, within the NDA's substantial 47% vote share, only 3% came from Yadav voters and a mere 2% from Muslim voters.
Ascendia's analysis indicated that upper caste voters predominantly supported the NDA, with 7% of its vote share coming from the general category, compared to just 2% for the Grand Alliance.
Non-Yadav OBCs also showed strong preference for the NDA, contributing approximately 7% to its total vote share, while the same demographic provided only 3% to the Mahagathbandhan.
The NDA significantly benefited from its EBC-SC-ST voter base, which comprised 60% of its total vote share.
Among Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), 15% supported the NDA, while the Grand Alliance received only 6% from this group. Similarly, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC-STs) favored the NDA, contributing 13% to their vote share, compared to just 4% for the Mahagathbandhan.
