Rohit and Santri, both natives of Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, have been apprehended for security breaches.

Bengaluru:

Karnataka's Udupi Police have detained two individuals for allegedly transmitting classified naval ship information to Pakistan.

The suspects, Rohit (29) and Santri (37), from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, disclosed confidential data regarding the Cochin Shipyard (Malpe-Udupi unit), an organization operating under the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

Rohit was employed as an insulator at M/s Shushma Marine Private Limited, which had received a subcontract from the shipyard. Prior to this position, he had worked at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kerala.

During his employment in Kerala, Rohit allegedly shared sensitive information via WhatsApp, including specific details about Indian Navy vessels, and received improper benefits in return.

After his transfer to Malpe, reports indicate he continued gathering information from a contact in Kochi and forwarded it to unauthorized recipients through WhatsApp, potentially endangering national security.

The Malpe Police Station registered a case following a formal complaint from the CEO of Udupi Cochin Shipyard in Malpe.

Both suspects have been placed in judicial custody until December 3.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify any additional individuals involved in these activities.
